The idea of the Sex Down South Conference was brought into this world by Marla Renee Stewart and Tia Marie Mosley. After working together on several sexuality-related projects in the past, they decided that they wanted to reach a bigger audience and produce something better than they have ever done in the past. Sex Down South has become that. This conference is full of love, excitement, and endless possibilities. With a call out to possible crew members all around the nation, we now have a solid team that helps to produce the event every year. Their dedication, passion, and experience working in this field is the glue that holds this conference together each and every event that we hold.
Without a budget, Tia and Marla manifested this conference into the making in 2015. Our first annual conference was held at the Sheraton Atlanta Airport hotel and we had just under 250 people in attendance. In 2016, we grew exponentially. With over 350 people in attendance, we had an amazing convening at the Hilton Atlanta, located in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Unfortunately, with bigger conferences taking over our space, we were forced to do a smaller event. We presented the SEXxATL talks and Mini-Bang party, which had dynamic speakers from all walks of life and wonderful and kinky demonstrations. 2018 is going to be epic, as we will again be located at the Hilton Atlanta.

Tia Marie is a co-founder of the Sex Down South Conference. She hails from Houston, TX and has been in Atlanta for over 15 years. She's a creature of creativity: tv producer, stage-manager, voyeur, event planner, writer, lover and juicer of strange veggies. She’s been navigating through the cross sections of eroticism, sensuality and social limits for over 10 years. While she holds a B.A in Mass Communications, she learned mostly from her peers and through practical play in elevators, swingers clubs, sensuality workshops/events and training. She’s equally soft and attentive and plans to take on Atlanta’s erotic scene and share her escapades. Her quenchless desires include sex, food and the supernatural. If you want to know more about her, you can email her at email@example.com..

Big bang coordinator
Andre Shakti is a journalist, educator, performer, activist, and professional slut living in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is devoted to normalizing alternative desires, de-stigmatizing sex workers and their clients, and not taking herself too seriously. Andre wrestles mediocre white men into submission and writes about sex work, queerness and non-monogamy for Cosmopolitan, Rewire, Thrillist, MEL, Vice, Autostraddle, and more. She can frequently be found marathoning "Law & Order: SVU" under a chaotic pile of partners and pitbulls, and yes, she knows how problematic that show is. Andre is the reigning "polyamory pundit" at her non-monogamy advice column, "I Am Poly(amorous) & So Can You!", which you can visit - and submit questions to! - via IAmPoly.net. She frequently lectures and advises on issues surrounding sexual health, politics and pleasure, gender diversity, sex worker rights, non-monogamy, and queerness. She is thrilled to be a part of the Sex Down South committee, and will be coordinating The Big Bang event as well as facilitating workshops and promoting a large, diverse sex worker representation at the conference. Visit her on Twitter @andreshakti, on FB as "Andre Shakti", and as a pleasure professional on the exceptional #SexEd platform O.School.
